Artist Statement

My greatest desire is to live in connection with my Heart and Soul. When I am connected in this way I feel a sense of wonder about life. I am “in the flow” where synchronicity happens and existence feels magical. I know that my consciousness is expanding and that there are unlimited possibilities available to me. I can access states of joy, bliss, gratitude, and reverence with more ease. And I feel inspired, inspired to do what I love and to be myself, and that this is a blessing and the best gift I can give to this world.

When I create art, and especially when I paint, I feel this Heart/Soul connection most strongly. It is the way I choose to tune in and access wisdom and beauty to share in the world and it allows for my unique self expression to shine forth. This state also enables me to perceive and sense reality in a deeper way. I move beyond the physical and touch other realms and dimensions, bringing this energy and experience into form to be seen and felt by others.

I begin my paintings with an intention and prayer. At times my intention is more general, for example, asking my Soul to make known whatever is for the highest and best at this moment. Other times it is more specific, for transformation in myself or an area of my life, to bring healing to the Earth in some way, or to experience nature or co-create with her more deeply. Always, I intend that what I create brings more beauty, harmony, and healing into this world, as I know that what I do affects everything in the web of life.

The intention and energy I bring to painting through my intuitive, prayerful and meditative approach allows for alchemy and “miraculous form” to occur, since what appears on the canvas is not brought forth from the personality/mind alone. This journeying into the mystery bestows gifts of higher understanding of Self and greater alignment with the Divine.

This Soul wisdom and deeper connection to the Earth, and the illumination of spirit and life beyond, is what inspires me to paint. I feel a great sense of freedom, fulfillment, and beauty when creating in this way and I am able to live more fully awake in the wonder and sacredness of Life.
